This is how you play

Preperation

  1. Get 3 to 7 fun loving people together
  2. Get some snacks and drinks, such as stroopwafels, cheese, carrots and licorice.

Right before you start

  1. Open the game. You will see instructions and cards with a green, red or orange back side.
  2. Lay the cards in 3 stacks: the green stack (which is just one card), the red stack and the orange stack. Place them next to each other. You can choose to already turn the green card, since it is no secret but just the Map Helper Card.
  3. Shuffle the orange stack really really well. Then place them back next to the other stacks.
  4. Get pen & paper. Write the names of all the Citizens of Dutch Citizenshit next to each other, so you can keep score.

Start

  1. Let someone pick the first card and start reading. You can read all the cards out loud. Unless it tells you otherwise.
  2. In case of Explain it Like a Boss: try to give the right answer first. Then search for the matching answer card and check if your answer is right! 
  3. Adjust everyone’s points after each round! 
  4. Have fun!

Play styles and time

So here’s the thing: Dutch Citizenshit has very different play styles. The time you spend is totally up to you! For example:

  1. Play the whole game for 1 hour (ambitious!)
  2. Play the whole game for hours and hours on end! Especially without noticing it’s already so late when you’re finally done.
  3. Play for 1 hour and see how far you get
  4. Play a certain category like Map or Nostalgia, because you like the challenge or the experiences for 1 hour
  5. Play a ‘speed version’ of 20 minutes with Explain it like a boss
  6. Play Real Shit, because you like your points being messed up.
